About me

Physician, avid gardener, and food lover

I am a traditionally trained western medical doctor board certified in Emergency Medicine. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Chicago. I went to medical school at the University of California, San Francisco. I completed my residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco in Fresno.

After having spent over 20 years in the western medical field I have seen some of the pitfalls of a disease management system and I now take a different approach.

My approach is to healthy living is a holistic one. So beginning at the beginning is key. DIET MATTERS!! The dictionary definition of medicine is a substance for treating disease; a remedy. Somewhere along the line, we got away from the idea that FOOD IS MEDICINE!! We cannot ignore what we put into our bodies and expect that our bodies will be able to perform optimally.

After many years of enjoying having my own garden and seeing the profound effects that it has had on my own health, I understand the importance of taking control of what we put into our mouths. I have realized after many years of practicing allopathic western medicine that there are some things being overlooked. There are many tools that can facilitate/aid healing and maintain health. Healing takes place on many levels not just the physical. I personally have been using and working with this approach to health and healing for over 10 years.

Even though I am a physician with a full understanding and appreciation for the western medical model I have chosen to use this approach of getting my body as healthy as possible giving it all the tools it needs and letting its wisdom take over from there. I have benefited greatly by making this decision.

I love sharing what I know, learn and find especially useful and fun things.

Personally, I LOVE FOOD! While I also LOVE GARDENING I know that I can’t grow everything myself. Since I love eating healthy food I also love to find the best food that I can that others have produced. It keeps it fun and interesting and the variety is amazing!!
