What is healing?
You might say that is a silly question. It means to get rid of disease. Well I don’t disagree with that. I would like to EXPAND on that. What I have found in working with people and in my own life is that healing is a journey. That is not to say that it can’t happen instantaneously, it can, but that is not the norm. I feel that it is important to realize that healing takes place on more than just the physical level. In fact in order for healing to happen on the physical level it must also happen on the emotional, mental and spiritual levels. This is the part that is often overlooked and/or not even addressed. What I intend to do is to help people understand/identify/clarify what are some of the things that need to be addressed in order to help healing to occur. This is where working with Spirit becomes so vital. It is not up to me or my opinion what needs to be addressed on each level and in what order. I rely on Spirit for that information. Does that mean you the client are not involved? No, of course not. The information about you is coming directly from you. It is just that most people are not use to thinking of it in this way and are not always listening to their guidance so it becomes unconscious. Does this mean you need me or someone like me? No, not at all. Each person is perfectly capable of communicating with Spirit directly and getting their own information for themselves. However, we may be out of practice or not have developed our skills to the point where this is easy for us to do. So I and people like me can help you understand/interpret/clarify and make sense of what you are probably already getting in some way and possibly add a few things and give you another perspective.
Another important thing about healing is that our bodies know how to heal. Our bodies want to heal. They are an automatic healing system. Often they don’t heal or can’t heal because we haven’t given them what they need. My work is all about assisting people to give their bodies what they need so they can do what they are really great at doing, healing!! It really is all about supporting your body to heal itself!!
Most bodies like to heal slowly. Quick fixes don’t create a foundation of health that the body can grow on.
Why talk about nutrition and diet?
Foods are the building blocks of our bodies. I believe it was Hippocrates that said let food be thy medicine. We all know that we have to eat to survive. There is a lot of information out there on nutrition and what makes up a healthy diet. However, one could be eating the healthiest diet in the world all pure, clean, organic foods but if they can’t digest what they eat then it is no longer beneficial to them and becomes another stresser for the body which takes away from its healing ability. And over time becomes more of a hindrance then a help. I have found this to be key. If you can’t digest something than it does you no good and becomes a burden for your body to deal with that takes resources away from its healing. So part of our time together if you choose a Nutritional and Spiritual Guidance session will be spent looking at what foods your body can handle optimally. This will change over time. You will not be advised to eat the same diet for the rest of your life. As your body heals more and more foods will be added back in.
Also don’t forget that nutrition is only one part of the puzzle. It is supporting the physical level. As I talked about above there is more than just the physical level when it comes to healing. In a Nutritional and Spiritual guidance session I will look at all the levels, physical, emotional, mental, spiritual.
There is so much information out there now on meditation. So if this is a topic of interest to you please do some looking around and find what resonates with you. I just want to add my opinion on the subject because I have found it to be very beneficial. It is a wonderful way to just be still. Well of course I am still I am just sitting there you might say. But I don’t just mean physically still I mean internally still. What are the benefits of being internally still? Well it helps one to connect with their own inner guidance, that wisdom (which we talked about above) that we all have which helps us to heal. In fact many teach that stillness is our true nature ie. it is who we truly are. We forget that because it gets covered over by the thoughts and business of the mind. So meditation is one way to connect with our true nature and it feels like we are coming back home. It allows us to rest in it. Many people have the experience of such busy minds/thoughts that they don’t experience the inner stillness that I am referring to. However, I think it is important to realize that even if the mind doesn’t quiet down the time spent in meditation is still very fruitful and worth doing because by just stopping and not acting on the thoughts one gains great benefit and the thoughts will will quiet down over time.
